Hallway - From Bedroom
At 5:30 AM Monday morning, our younger puppy, our little girl Zephyr, had a poop explosion on our living room carpet. We had wanted to pull up the carpet EVENTUALLY and refinish the hard woods and soft woods underneath, but we were not expecting to do it so soon!
I called into work and took the day off, and then spent from about 6AM to 7:30PM ripping up carpet, pulling out tack strips and staples, moving furniture around, and uncovering the beautiful wood floors underneath our carpet.
It might not look as clean an polished as it did before when we had the carpet, but something about the wood floors just looks and feels right. In the living room, it looks like they painted right before they put carpet down and didn't bother with any kind of drop cloths. Hopefully that will all come out with some sanding. In the hallway (and the bedrooms, but we haven't ripped that up yet) there is beautiful red Heart Pine.
So, finally, this is what our living room and hallway look like now. . . . Will have more pictures when we are actually able to refinish them.

We are the time. We are the famous
We are the time. We are the famous
metaphor from Heraclitus the Obscure.
We are the water, not the hard diamond,
the one that is lost, not the one that stands still.
We are the river and we are that greek
that looks himself into the river. His reflection
changes into the waters of the changing mirror,
into the crystal that changes like the fire.
We are the vain predetermined river,
in his travel to his sea.
The shadows have surrounded him.
Everything said goodbye to us, everything goes away.
Memory does not stamp his own coin.
However, there is something that stays
however, there is something that bemoans.
